GEIBEL, ABBIE A.

Mrs. John William Geibel, nee Abbie Lane Anderson, of Friendship Manor passed away on Monday, July 23, 1990. She was born in Henderson, Ky., and later moved to Louisville, Ky., where she graduated from The Louisville Girls' High School. She was a graduate of Hollins College, Virginia, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married her childhood sweetheart, John William Geibel. They lived in the Cleveland, Ohio, area for 40 years and retired to Roanoke in 1961. Mrs. Geibel was a very active member of the Protestant Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School and served in many of the church's organizations. Her husband of 62 years predeceased her in 1984 and their only son, Dr. John William Geibel, Jr., also predeceased her. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. James S. (Nancy) Wyllie of Swarthmore, Pa., three grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Burial will be beside her husband at 11:00 a.m. Friday in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Ky., with graveside services conducted by the Rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in Louisville, where she was a former member. Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Ind., is in charge of arrangements there. Oakey's Roanoke Chapel in charge of arrangements in Roanoke.
