WORK AT NICHOLAS MANOR CONTINUES

Construction at the Nicholas Manor subdivision has continued steadily since June, when nearby residents complained to Town Council about delays and erosion problems.

In a detailed report to council, Public Works Director Adele Schirmer said all erosion and sediment control problems had been addressed. She said all water, sewer and storm drain construction had been tested and accepted by the town.

Developer John Madis plans to complete the remaining infrastructure - roads, curb and gutter and sidewalks - by October, she said.

The town had stopped work several times for erosion problems since construction began about 18 months ago. Schirmer acknowledged the project had taken an unusually long time, but said there is no time limit in the town code for subdivision development.

The town would not grant any further construction shutdowns on the project, Schirmer said. "We have been out there daily" and work appears to be going smoothly, she said.
