\ STUART - Akers Edgar Hughes, age 61, of Rt. 2, Stuart, passed away Wednesday in the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. He was a native of Patrick County. He worked for Roanoke City Mills for 30 years where he served as vice president and general manager. He was a member of the Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church for more than 21 years. He was the son of W. Edgar Hughes and the late Edith Sutphin Hughes. Also surviving are his wife, Mrs. June Kitts Hughes, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Roger L. (Sherry) Beasley, Stuart; one son, Michael E. Hughes, Roanoke; two grandchildren; stepmother, Mrs. Mary Dolly Hopkins Hughes, Stuart. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. David Kirk and Rev. David Bower at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. Burial will be in the Hughes family cemetery, Rt. 2, Stuart. Arrangements by Moody Funeral Home, Stuart.
