RATE RISE WILL EAT UP APCO FUEL FACTOR CUT

The average residential customer of Appalachian Power Co. will pay 46 cents less for a monthly electric bill following the approval by the State Corporation Commission of Apco's decrease in its fuel factor. But this will be more than offset by a rate increase of $5.60 per month in the average residential bill, expected to go into effect on an interim basis Aug. 28.

The SCC has scheduled a hearing for Sept. 13 in Richmond on Apco's request for a $43.3 million general rate increase. The interim increase will be subject to refund with interest pending a final decision by the SCC. - Staff report
