Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, parent of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Roanoke, reported second-quarter earnings of $4.4 million, more than double the $1.6 million reported a year ago. In the first half, earnings were $2.4 million, up from a loss of $977,000.

\ AMP Inc., operator of a Roanoke plant and machine shop, reported second-quarter earnings of $68.3 million, up from $65.8 million. First-half net income was $148.1 million, up from $143.1 million.

\ E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., operator of a nylon yarn plant in Martinsville, reported second-quarter net income of $694 million, compared with $714 million in last year's second quarter. For the first six months, earnings were $1.3 billion, compared with $1.45 billion.

\ Brunswick Corp., which operates a defense plant in Marion, reported a 5 percent decline in net earnings for the second quarter and a 9 percent decline for the first half of 1990. Brunswick's earnings for the second quarter were $19.5 million on sales of $670 million, compared with earnings of $20.5 million on $772 million in sales during the same period of 1989.

\ Federal-Mogul Corp., which has a gasket plant in Blacksburg, reported earnings of $5.6 million in the second quarter compared with $19.1 million during the same period last year. When a one-time gain of $8.3 million from divestitures in 1989 is taken into account, the company's 1990 second-quarter earnings were off 47 percent from last year.

\ Atlantic Southeast Airlines, the Atlanta-based carrier serving Roanoke Regional Airport, has reported net income of $8.3 million for the second quarter, down 18 percent from $10.1 million in the second quarter of 1989.
