HENRY BOY, 4, DIES IN TWO-CAR CRASH

A 4-year-old Henry County child died Wednesday after being thrown from the back seat of a car through the right front passenger window.

Matthew Dustin Howell of Stanleytown died about a half-hour after the 12:23 p.m. accident on Virginia 57 near the Bassett Rescue Squad building.

The child was a passenger in a car that was struck in the right front side by a pickup truck that had pulled out of a private driveway.

A state police dispatcher said the child was not wearing a seat belt.

No charges had been filed, the dispatcher said.
