The suit, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court by MGM-UA Television Production Group Inc., alleges Busfield has refused to report for work on Aug. 3, the start of filming for the fall season. It asks a judge to order him to return to work.
The suit alleged that Busfield wants to be paid $36,375 per episode. MGM-UA said it offered the red-haired actor $28,750 for each 1990-1991 installment of the popular series.
"MGM has failed to live up to their agreement with Mr. Busfield," Edward Burg, the actor's attorney, responded Thursday. "They are trying to coerce him into returning to work and he won't be coerced."
\ Bruce Springsteen's girlfriend has given birth to the rock balladeer's first child - a boy - Springsteen's lawyer said Thursday.
Patti Scialfa, a back-up singer in Springsteen's band, delivered the 7-pound, 9-ounce boy at a California hospital sometime since Tuesday, said lawyer Barry Slott of Asbury Park.
Slott did not know the boy's name, the name of the hospital or the condition of the mother or child.
Springsteen, 40, and Scialfa, 38, were rumored to be linked romantically after she joined his E Street Band as a backup singer in 1984 for the "Born in the U.S.A." tour.
\ Cher's sudden fear of flying is delaying her concert tour.
It started when her chartered USAir plane developed engine trouble Wednesday and had to make an emergency landing in New Jersey.
The incident shook Cher up and she refused to fly, preferring to travel by train to Boston and then by bus to Halifax, Nova Scotia, promoter Jack Livingstone said Thursday.
Her sold-out concert originally scheduled for Wednesday night in Halifax has been rescheduled for Friday. Thursday's planned show in Moncton, New Brunswick, has been moved to Saturday night, and a Saturday concert at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, has been moved to Sunday.
