READER HAS PRAISE FOR RURAL POSTAL SERVICE

I moved here from Alexandria, and I used to have to go to the post office there all the time. I don't have to do that here. I haven't been to the Moneta post office for anything since I built my house in 1979.

That's because rural carriers routinely pay for postage-due mail out of their own pockets and leave the mail with an envelope for me to repay the carrier.

They will attempt a second delivery of a parcel at my request.
