MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO BANK ROBBERY

A Florida man pleaded guilty Friday to robbing a Roanoke bank.

William David Anderson, 39, pleaded guilty in Roanoke Circuit Court to armed robbery and entering a bank with a deadly weapon. He is to be sentenced later.

Anderson entered a Sovran Bank branch at 5102 Williamson Road the afternoon of May 24, brandished a handgun at tellers and demanded cash.

He fled with $945 and was arrested by police not far from the bank a short time later.
