ABC ANNOUNCES 2 REPLACEMENTS FOR SPRING

ABC has designated two new shows as replacement series on its spring schedule and announced cast addition for another.

"STAT," by producer Danny Arnold of "Barney Miller," will feature an ensemble comedy cast in an urban hospital emergency room.

"The Principal," starring Randy Quaid as a schoolteacher who reluctantly becomes principal, also features comedian Jonathan Winters as Quaid's father. It's from independent producers Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner, whose Carsey/Werner Co. is responsible for such hits as "Roseanne" and "The Cosby Show."

"Anything but Love" will have guest appearances by John Ritter, the former star of "Hooperman" and "Three's Company." Bruce Weitz, who played the snarling undercover cop Belker on "Hill Street Blues," also will join the cast.
