Mr. Major Jackson Mabe, age 80, of Route 1, Laurel Springs, N.C., died Saturday morning in the Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, N.C. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Davis Mabe of the home; two sons, Hoke Mabe, North Wilkesboro, N.C.; Roy Lee Mabe, Roanoke, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Miller, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Coy Mabe, Prospect Hill, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Cheek, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Mrs. Boyd Bryant, Laurel Springs, N.C.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Fork Baptist church by the Rev. Worth Kimberlin and the Rev. Gary Bennesh. Burial will follow in the Laurel Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home, Sparta, N.C. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to the Pine Fork Baptist Church Building Fund.
