SOWDER, P. RODNEY\ Percy Rodney Sowder, age 69, of 3931 Richland Avenue, N.W., died Saturday, July 28, 1990. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was a retired driver for Valley Metro Corp. He was a member of Roanoke Council No. 173 U.C.T. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eva Divers Sowder; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon S. and Tom Lowery; three grandchildren, Alicia, Amanda, and T.J. Horne, all of Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. Grace Pendleton, Mrs. Louise Akers, both of Rocky Mount; Mrs. Sadie Bussey, Providence Forge; Mrs. Edith Holt, Hyattsville, Md.; three brothers, Ernest F. Sowder, Roanoke County; Dr. Wilson Sowder, Jacksonville, Fla.; John G. Sowder, Providence Forge. Funeral services will be conducted from St. James Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, with the Rev. K.C. Emmerling officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church Memorial Fund. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
