HUFFMAN, WILLIAM M., JR.\ William M. (Joe) Huffman Jr., age 68, died July 28, 1990, in a Lexington hospital. He was born April 11, 1922, the son of the late William M. and Regina Green Huffman. He was retired from Burlington Mills and was a member of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1945. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Silver Star, Purple Heart with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, 2 Presidential Citations and was discharged as Technical Sergeant, Company 6, 409th Infantry. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen Moore Huffman; one daughter, Mrs. Debbie Meredith, Buena Vista; one son, Donnie Huffman, Buena Vista; four sisters, Mrs. Glady Bates, Mrs. Mary Humphries, Mrs. Ruth Evans, and Mrs. Estell Secrist, all of Buena Vista; one brother, Paul Huffman, Buena Vista; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. S. Marc Sherrod at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at their home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday. Lomax Funeral Home, Buena Vista, is in charge of arrangements.
