NO LOTTO WINNER; JACKPOT EXPECTED TO HIT $5.5 MILLION

Nobody won last week's Lotto jackpot, which soared to a surprising $2.8 million, Virginia Lottery Department spokeswoman Paula Otto said Sunday.

"We had incredible sales," Otto said. "It was the first time we ever went over $2 million for a one-week jackpot."

The previous week, three winning tickets were eligible to claim the record $21 million jackpot.

"Without a doubt, we're still feeling the effects of Lotto mania," Otto said. "The big jackpot attracted a lot of people who never played before, and they continued to play last week."

Otto estimated this week's top prize at $5.5 million.

A total of 115 players correctly picked five of six numbers to win $1,112 in Saturday night's drawing. Another 5,317 players got four numbers right to win $51. A free Lotto play will go to 73,417 players who correctly picked three numbers.
