CITY, COUNTY SCHOOLS BOTH GOOD

AFTER READING another letter critical of the city schools, I thought I had to share my experience. I am very pleased with the county schools but equally pleased with the city schools.

My older child attended Roanoke city schools from kindergarten through seventh grade. He transferred to the county and was placed in all advanced classes, maintaining better-than-average grades. My younger child attended Raleigh Court from kindergarten through fourth grade and has maintained a better than "B" average for the last two years.

I want to thank city educators for the quality education given to our children. I also want to thank county educators for the quality education that our children are now receiving. It's evident that both systems are doing the best they can, and it's a matter of opinion, plus a child's ability, as to which system is "better" than the other.
