HARRISONBURG STATION WON'T SHOW PGA HIGHLIGHTS

Harrisonburg (Va.) television station WHSV, an ABC affiliate, does not plan to show highlights of its own network's coverage of the PGA Championship from all-white Shoal Creek Country Club.

"It's just something in protest" of the club's racially exclusive membership, WHSV sports director Paul Runnels said. "There's not much I can do from my position here. I'm not trying to be a one-person crusade. It's just something small on my part."

Runnels said that while the station will not show highlights from the tournament Aug. 9-12 in Birmingham, Ala., viewers will be told who is leading the event.

NBC's second largest affiliate, KNBC-TV in Burbank, Calif., also plans to protest the all-white membership policy of the club by refusing to show highlights of the event.
