Billy Martin's widow on Monday sued the man allegedly behind the wheel of the pickup truck in which the former New York Yankees manager was killed during a Christmas night accident.

William Reedy, the owner of a Detroit bar, was negligent when he failed to negotiate a curve outside Martin's rural upstate New York home and lost control of the truck, Jill Martin's lawsuit charged.

Martin, 61, suffered fatal neck and head injuries in the crash.

Authorities said a test administered to the 53-year-old Reedy soon after the accident indicated he was legally drunk Reedy faces a charge of driving while intoxicated stemming from the accident.
