POLICE CHASE IN DANVILLE NO KID STUFF

A goat that jumped on a car and charged a police officer has given law enforcement authorities the run-around in downtown Danville.

The apparently wild animal has eluded police for several days. Officers chased the horned nemesis for several hours Monday before giving up.

"We're going to have to do something," police Maj. B.C. Elliott said Monday. The animal turned and charged one officer and later leaped atop a car to escape his pursuers, Elliott said.

John Jenkins said he was working in the yard Monday when the goat strolled down the middle of his street.

"To me he's not wild or mean or nothing like that," Jenkins said.

A few minutes later a neighbor, Ethel Denny, saw the goat cross her yard with police "in hot pursuit."

Police planned to resume the chase today.
