ONLY IN UNITING CAN NATION BE STRONG

IT DEEPLY pains me to watch the violent protests across America against our president. Surely this does not help bolster those families whose loved ones are in Saudi Arabia. I do not disagree with the right to differ with national policy; however, what has happened to the united love Americans should have toward one another?

Who does want war? In World Wars I and II, we united together, regardless of our beliefs, to strengthen, unify and support the troops abroad as well as the loved ones at home. During the Vietnam War, we got so caught up in our freedom to protest that we failed to show compassion and patriotism toward the families at home and to the valiant men who did their duty. It is only in uniting that we will become a strong, undivided America again. K.M. PURSIFULL ROANOKE
