BOB MARLEY'S BIRTHDAY MARKED AT RADFORD BUS STOP

LIVE: WVVV is co-sponsoring "Bob Marley Day" at the Bus Stop in Radford on Tuesday. This celebration falls on the eve of Marley's birthday. Israel Vibration, the Awareness Art Ensemble and the Full Stop Reggae Band will perform starting at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are available at Felix Books & Gifts in Radford, the Record Exchange in Blacksburg, Salem and Roanoke and at the door.

WFNR goes on remote at the new Davis Trophy & Sportswear store on Virginia 460 today. Come out and win prizes for the funniest hat.

WPSK offers music services for American troops in the Persian Gulf. Taped country music will be sent over Radio Free Kuwait with various messages of support from Southwest Virginia. To get involved, call 980-2702.

Tuesday, WVVV is on remote at the Off-Campus Housing Fair at Radford University's Heth Student Center, 1-4:30 p.m.

\ NEW PROGRAMS: WVRU presents "What Ever Happened To . . . ," Sunday, 5:30 p.m., with interviews of onetime TV, radio, music and movie stars discussing what they used to do and what they're doing now.

WVRU's "Guide Wire Radio," Monday, 8 p.m., highlights music from bands not signed to a record label.

WVRU's "Hub City Spoke Repair," Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., takes a humorous look at current affairs.

WKEX has the "Wax Works Program," weekdays, 1-2 p.m., which features older pop music.

WUVT begins a radio drama show Sunday, 6 p.m. The half-hour program - which was still untitled at press time - features surprise dramas each week performed by WUVT staffers.

\ GOSPEL: WPUV airs "Home Town Gospel" today, 7:30 a.m. Weekdays, 1 p.m., "On the Line," a call-in show with Dr. David Gyerston concerning issues of the day, airs.

On WPUV Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., catch various local preachers spreading the gospel. At 2 p.m. The Famous Max Mountain Gospel Singers perform live.

WFNR's "The Gospel Night Train" airs Sunday at 7 p.m. The "Glorious Gospel Highway Show" is broadcast Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

WRAD's "Morning Worship," with the First Baptist Church, airs from 11 to noon Sunday, and "In Touch" airs at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

WKEX broadcasts the "Abundant Life Hour" with the Blacksburg Baptist Church on Sunday, 8:30 a.m. The "Morning Worship Service" at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church airs at 11 a.m.

\ ROCK: WVRU's "Long Live Rock," Monday, 9 p.m., finishes a Beatles feature that covers 1969-70, including the LPs "Abbey Road" and "Let It Be."

On WUVT today: classical music, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.; Greek broadcasting, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; "The Persian Show," 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; "The International Show," 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Reggae, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and "Urban Blight," an eclectic mix of thrash, rap and reggae, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. "The House Party" airs from 9 p.m. to midnight.

On WUVT Sunday: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., jazz is programmed; "Hickory Dickory Dock" airs 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; "Mash Potato Radio" has stories, readings & music, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; blues plays 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and reggae is aired from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WVVV's "Reelin' In the Years," Sunday, 9 a.m., features Jackson Browne, Allman Brothers, Billy Preston and Paul Atkinson of the Zombies. "Album Feature" is "Joy Rides for Shut-Ins" by Cave Dogs, Sunday at 11 p.m. And "Five At Five" Friday features U2.

\ BLUEGRASS: Catch "Music From the Blue Ridge" today on WFNR at 9 a.m. Then it's the "Bluegrass Talk Back Show," Thursday, 8 p.m. over FM.

\ COUNTRY: WPSK's "Star Trax" airs Sunday, 10 p.m. "Bob Kingsley's American Country Countdown" lists the top 40 today, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. "Stories Behind the Songs" airs Sunday at 10 p.m. Also, WPSK hosts the "Country Dance Party" at the Blacksburg Marriott each Sunday. Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m. and the party starts at 9.

\ NEWS: WVRU's "Talk of the Town," Wednesday, 8 p.m. and Friday, 1:30 p.m., features a talk by Jane Bryant Quinn, a leading finance commentator, on the effects of the war on the U.S. economy.

WBLB's "Community Comment," Tuesday, 10:35 a.m. and Thursday at 6:05 p.m., interviews Don Holycross, Pulaski town manager, about his first year in office.

WJJJ simulcasts the Business Radio Network this weekend. Saturday, 6-9 p.m., is "Omniverse." Sunday at noon is "Women's Business Exchange." Listen for other business programming.

WKEX's "Focus on the Family" airs weekdays at 9 a.m. and 6:05 p.m. This week: "A Conversation About Adolescence," Monday; "On Equal Treatment in the Legal System," Tuesday; "Surviving the Trials of Life," Wednesday; and "Vietnam Vets Reaching Out," Thursday and Friday.

\ BASKETBALL: WKEX, WRAD, WJJJ and WVVV broadcast Virginia Tech at West Virginia today, 4:10 p.m., and Monday at Richmond, 7:40 p.m. Southern Mississippi is at Tech on Thursday, 8:10 p.m. and WRIQ will also cover the action.

WRIQ airs Radford University at Augusta College tonight at 7:30 and Monday at UVA, 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, WRIQ and WRAD have Alleghany at Radford, 7:15 p.m. WRIQ, WRAD and WKEX air Blacksburg at Radford on Friday, 7:30 p.m.
