SPAIN, FRANCE PLAN TUNNEL LINK IN PYRENEES

Spain on Friday said it would sign an agreement with France to construct a 5.2-mile road tunnel linking the two countries.

In a statement, the Cabinet said the tunnel is to be constructed through the Somport Mountain pass, on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees.

The project is budgeted at $202 million. Construction of the tunnel is expected to save an estimated 25 minutes of travel time for cars and 40 minutes for trucks. - Associated Press
