The Indians (12-3 overall, 3-0 in New River District) failed to score in the fourth quarter until only 25 seconds remained. That enabled the Cavaliers (12-4, 1-2) to whittle a 10-point deficit to 52-51.
Blacksburg righted itself long enough for Thompson Lester to sink two free throws with five seconds remaining to secure the victory. Lester finished with 17 points.
Dustin Harmon led Carroll County with 18 points.
The Cavaliers trailed 38-24 at the half, but pecked away at the Indians until slicing the margin to one point late in the game.
