`DOONESBURY' STRIP REACHED A NEW LOW

"DOONESBURY" has never been humorous, entertaining or informative. The Jan. 27 strip reached a new low. It could serve no useful purpose whatever.

Can you imagine the effect of reading that Sunday's "Doonesbury" on the child of one of our troops? It could only create fear and depression.

Who needs the trash of a throwback to the '60s? The amateurish scratchings of a military misfit are even less relevant. CURTIS E. NESTER BLUE RIDGE
