NAMES & CHANGES

Cellular One region gets manager

JAKE CASEY has been named regional manager of Cellular One in Roanoke, Charlottesville and Lynchburg. Century Communications, which owns Cellular One in Roanoke, has recently opened a system in Charlottesville and plans to open the Lynchburg market in March. Casey will be based in Roanoke. He comes from McCaw Cellular where he was responsible for cellular phone operations in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

BANKING

JOSEPH H. PHILPOTT JR. has been named president of the Crestar Bank in Martinsville. He succeeds WILLIAM P. HEATH JR., who has been named president of Crestar in Lynchburg. ALBERT S. KEMPER III has retired as president of Crestar in Lynchburg. MIKE A. HAMILTON has been named Clifton Forge market manager of the bank, succeeding JAMES C. DREWRY,who has retired. Drewry, executive vice president and market manager, had been with the bank for 35 years.

Promoted to vice presidents at Crestar were: WANDA F. AMOS, manager of the Spartan Square office; GREGORY J. APOSTOLOU, manager of the Hollins office; PENNY K. BRECKMAN, manager of the Crestar Plaza office; NOEL L. CHITWOOD, commercial account manager; JAMES M. CRUMPACKER JR., commercial account manager; RICHARD K. LEWIS, manager of the Cave Spring office; JOEL W. MADDOCK, credit policy and procedures administrator. Promoted to assistant vice presidents were WILLIS F. ANGLE JR., manager of the South Roanoke office, and RANDALL D. GAUTIER, commercial account manager in Lynchburg. JOSEPH R. BANCROFT has joined the bank as assistant vice president and western region trust real estate account manager.

\ CRAIG V. VANSANDT, construction loan officer in the commercial real estate division of Dominion Bank, has been promoted to vice president. LINDA P. WILLOUGHBY, manager of the 419 office, has been promoted to assistant vice president.

\ G. BRUCE ELWELL has been named area executive officer of Sovran Bank's commercial division in Pulaski, responsible for commercial account development, customer service and commercial lending.

\ DEBORAH S. WRIGHT has been named manager of the new Towers Mall office of Central Fidelity Bank in Roanoke.

\ JEANNE A. SMYTH has been promoted to vice president of NCNB Corp. in Charlotte, N.C. She was with Singer Furniture in Roanoke.

MANUFACTURING

GLENN R. GRAY has been named vice president of operations at Aerial Machine & Tool Corp. He succeeds BERNIE K. DAY, who has been named vice president of marketing.

\ JOYCE VANDELLEN has been promoted to the new position of manager of production control and dealer service at Rusco Window Co. of Roanoke Inc. KAMEL J. FRANCIS has been named plant supervisor.

Kollmorgen Corp. has announced that JOHN L. YOUNGBLOOD will resign as president and chief executive officer by July 1. GEORGE P. STEPHAN has been elected chairman of the board, succeeding Youngblood in that position, and will lead the search for Youngblood's replacement. Kollmorgen is based in Connecticut with its Inland Motor plant and Industrial Drives Division both in Radford.

\ CARL I. GABLE has resigned as vice chairman and chief financial officer of Intermet Corp. in Atlanta. Intermet owns Lynchburg Foundry, which has plants in Radford and Lynchburg.
