UVA, VMI TOP WINTER RELAYS

The University of Virginia won four events and host VMI won three in the 40th annual Winter Relays on Saturday at Cormack Field House.

Thom McKinney of UVa captured both the 35-pound weight (58 feet, 8 1/2 inches) and shot put (53-11). Kim Bullock of the D.C. Track Club was the meet's other double winner, capturing the 55-meter hurdles in 7.64 seconds and setting a meet record in the long jump (25 feet, 2 inches). Bullock was voted the meet's top field performer.

VMI dominated the relay events, winning the distance medley relay and the 3,200-meter relay. Jeff Rudolph, who was on both teams, was selected the outstanding track performer of the meet.
