APPALACHIAN STATE WINS VA. TECH RELAYS

Appalachian State dominated the Virginia Tech Women's Relays by winning five of seven individual events and three relay events Saturday afternoon at Rector Field House.

More than 300 athletes from 10 different schools competed.

Virginia Tech was led by Kimmi Alcorn, who placed second in the 55-meter dash, and also ran a leg on the winning distance medley team with Lauren Hall and Penny Purcell.

Other top finishers for Tech were: Xabier Jackson, fourth in the 3,000; Cecil Organ, third in the triple jump; and Angie Edwards, fourth in the shot put. - Staff report
