The cover says this is "an indispensable guide to 500 kitchenware items." After several hours poring over it, I'm not sure it's indispensable, but it certainly is detailed - and fascinating.
I'd always thought my kitchen pretty well tooled; now I know there remain gadgets to add to my life list. I've sometimes thought my three rolling pins excessive: Bridge and Tibbetts talk about 11, all with different functions.
Each of the seven chapters is devoted to a specific type of kitchen utensil. Scattered among the detailed descriptions and photographs are inventive recipes from assorted restaurants, chefs and cookbook authors.
This is a delightful browsing book, fun and informative, and a source of delight for kitchen-gadget junkies or anyone with an interest in how food is prepared.
