BUCHER, WOOD TAKE FIRSTS IN SWIM MEET

The Roanoke Valley Gators and Carter Center Marlins each had a first-place finisher Sunday as the Poseidon Cherry Tree Invitational swim meet completed competition at the Riverside Fitness Center.

Carolyn Bucher of the Gators placed first in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1 minute, 3.42 seconds. Lissa Wood of the Marlins won the 50 butterfly in a time of 30.22 seconds.

Swimmers from the two Roanoke Valley teams were among 455 competitors.
