Cyclist Greg LeMond, winner of the Tour de France for the third time last year, was selected winner of the 1991 Jesse Owens International Trophy Award.

The award, named for the late Owens, winner of four track and field gold medals in the 1936 Olympics, is presented to the athlete who best personifies and promotes cooperation and understanding among people.

\ Chris Berman of ESPN and Peter Gammons of The Boston Globe were honored for the second straight year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Berman, 35, received sportscaster of the year honors, and Gammons, 45, won sportswriter of the year award for his work with Sports Illustrated.
