PULASKI COUNTY GIRLS CRUSH CAVE SPRING

Pulaski County avenged an earlier Roanoke Valley District loss and surprised previously undefeated Cave Spring 52-26 in girls' basketball Monday.

It was Cave Spring's first district loss in two years and the first time the Cougars (15-1 overall, 7-1 in the district) ever have beaten the Knights (14-1, 7-1).

Terri Garland led all scorers with 24 for Pulaski County, which led the entire game. Cindy Martin added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Lena Jones grabbed 11 rebounds.

Lisa Hodges led the Knights with eight points.

Fields had 23 and Randolph 18 as Fleming (10-5, 4-4) took a nine-point lead early and never trailed. Lottie Huffman paced Franklin County with 20 points.

North Cross (3-17) made only 4 of 17 shots in third period as Floyd County (10-3) broke open a tight game.

Dale Marshall led the Buffaloes with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Travis Crawford and Jerry Light added 17 points apiece.

The Raiders got 13 points and 17 rebounds from Ryan Cook.
