COMMUNITY ACTION RECEIVES GRANT TO AID THE HOMELESS

New River Community Action, which supports over a dozen human service organizations, has received money to help prevent homelessness in the area.

The money is from a McKinney Emergency Community Services Homeless Grant to promote coordination of public programs.

Community Action is hoping to extend the scope of its services. For example, helping homeless people make the transition from poverty will be expanded to include follow-up help. Income and job support also will be expanded.

Community Action is hoping to help some people who have received foreclosure, eviction or utility cut-off notices.
