WEST CHESTER, PA. - Polly Gerenbeck, age 52, died January 29, in West Chester, Pa., after a long illness. She was a social worker for the Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority in the downtown wast relocation project and with the City of Roanoke Department of Social Services as a supervisor of child protective services. She was a volunteer with the American Friends Service Committee Haiti Community Development project in the early 1960's, and had lived and worked in Haiti since 1983. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Gerenbeck, West Chester, Pa.; her father, George Gerenbeck, Philadelphia, Pa.; sisters, Lyndia and Martha, Downingtown, Pa. and Concord, N.H.; and two stepchildren, Kathryn Sabean Alipanah; and David Sabean, Richmond. A memorial service will be conducted at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke on Sunday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the request of her family, memorials in Polly's name may be sent to the American Friends Service Committee, Finance Department, 1501 Cherry St., Philadelphia, Pa. 19102.
