POLICE: ALLEGED BURGLAR TOOK CAB ON HIS ROUNDS

A man has been arrested on burglary charges because he called a cab to take him on his rounds, police say.

The cab driver said he picked up a man early Sunday who asked to be taken to a house. The cabbie said the passenger told him to wait until he returned, and the man came back a short time later with computer equipment and other items.

The passenger left the items in the cab and went away again, with instructions for the driver to wait.

That's when the suspicious cabbie radioed police.

Police recovered about $2,000 worth of computer equipment and other items they said were taken in two burglaries.

Martin Frederick Cowan, 20, was arrested on burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges. - Associated Press
