BLUE DEMONS BREEZE TO WIN OVER TAZEWELL

Christiansburg outscored Tazewell in each quarter and cruised to a 67-50 boys' basketball victory against Tazewell on Tuesday night.

Steve Gregory scored 15 points to lead Christiansburg (9-6) in the non-district game. Eddie Bentley and Mike Smith added 10 each.

John Griffith had 17 and Chris Webb 16 for Tazewell (7-8). There were the only Bulldogs to score more than six points.

Alleghany (10-6) led 78-66 entering the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats (7-10) rallied to get to 72-69 with three minutes remaining. They got no closer.

Jason Buzzard had 21 points, Darren Wheatley 19, John Stone 12 and Todd Wheatley 10 for the Mountaineers.

Chad Phillips led Radford with 27, Brian Canaday had 22 and Duane Pierson 17. The three combined to nail 10 3-pointers.

Jefferson Forest (6-9, 6-9) trailed by 24 points in the first half before launching a big comeback. Kenny Johnson led the winners with 15 points, and Lanny Duncan had 14.

Charles McDaniel paced Amherst County (10-6, 10-6) with 18 points.

Grayson County (10-5, 9-5) trailed underdog Narrows (3-10, 3-10) by seven points with four minutes left. But the Blue Devils charged back, and Patton's two free throws give them a 50-49 lead.

Narrows' McCreery Mann misfired on a 16-foot jumper with three seconds left, and Grayson's Craig Hoffman added two free throws for the final margin.

Devin Floyd paced the winners with 13 points. Jeff Dent led Narrows with 22.
