CAMBODIA TO POSTPONE ELECTION TO SEEK PEACE

Cambodia's Vietnamese-installed government says it has postponed a general election planned for this year to promote a settlement of the nation's civil war.

The government urged the coalition of three guerrilla groups it has been fighting to agree to a truce and move ahead with peace talks, the government's SPK new agency reported.

The state radio said Tuesday if the guerrillas do not want peace, Phnom Penh will hold the parliamentary elections in 1992 to meet provisions of Cambodia's constitution.
