Vernon Thomas Bess, age 60, formerly of Salem, Va., died suddenly February 5, 1991, at his home in Winston-Salem, N.C. He is survived by his wife, Alice Hixt Bess; two sons; one daughter; four grandchildren; his parents, William and Margie Bess, Salem; sister, Barbara Battle, Salem; sister and brother-in-law, Rebeth and Dr. Luther Lowe, Roanoke; aunt and uncle, Ray and Virginia Chaves, Roanoke. Funeral and burial will be in Winston-Salem, N.C., February 8, 1991.
