NO DOG-BITE REPORT FROM AUTHORITIES

Pulaski County authorities had no report Wednesday on their investigation into an incident in which a 4-year-old girl was injured by a neighbor's dog.

The county Animal Control Office referred queries to Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Doug Shroder, who deferred to Commonwealth's Attorney Everett Shockley.

Shockley would say only that Shroder had talked with an animal control officer but had not yet fully apprised him of the situation, so he had no statement Wednesday afternoon.

Four-year-old Victoria Scott had stitches on her face, shoulder and arm from injuries inflicted Monday afternoon by a dog, said her mother, Monica Scott. The child had crossed into the yard of a neighbor, Terry Doyle, where the 12-year-old mixed collie was tied.

Doyle said the child and her brother had been told not to go into that area. He said the warning was not because of the dog, but because he has had trouble with children on his property.

Doyle and his wife would not release the dog to authorities for a rabies check, but are keeping the animal quarantined 10 days to watch for signs of the disease.
