EX-AT&T WORKERS CAN GET TRAINING MONEY

Former AT&T workers can soon receive federal money to help them look for jobs, learn different skills and cover relocation expenses.

The U.S. Department of Labor has allocated $575,000 through the federal Trade Adjustment Assistance Program. The program is for workers who've lost their jobs because of foreign competition.

Workers laid off from Sprague Electric in Hillsville also are eligible for assistance.

The Virginia Employment Commission will distribute the money as people apply, said spokesman Richard Primer. When the money runs out, the state may apply for more federal funds.
