`SUPPORT AMERICA' RALLY PLANNED IN WYTHEVILLE

State and local elected officials will join military people for a "Support America" rally Sunday at 2 p.m. in the George Wythe High School auditorium.

State Sen. Daniel Bird Jr., D-Wytheville; Del. Tom Jackson, D-Hillsville; Wytheville Mayor Trent Crewe and Wythe County Sheriff Wayne Pike will participate along with Veterans Affairs officer James Lucas, county Veterans of Foreign Wars Cmdr. Garland Walters, American Legion District 7 Cmdr. Ray Matney and Post No. 9 Cmdr. Claude Davis.

U.S. Army Sgt. Jack Burke and Sgt. Benjamine Roster will give a roll call of Wythe Countians serving in the Middle East. Donna Graham will represent Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon. The Wytheville Community College Concert Band will perform, and a sing-along will be included. - Southwest bureau
