FOUR ROANOKE VALLEY SENIORS IN COMPETITION

Four Roanoke Valley high school seniors are among the 17 competing in the state finals of Virginia's Young Woman of the Year program Friday and Saturday at William Byrd High School in Vinton.

Competition begins each night at 7:30, and tickets are available at the door beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Participants, the localities they represent and their talents are as follows:

Elizabeth Poland, daughter of Elizabeth Yaussy and Thomas Poland; Botetourt; speech.

Cynthia Squires, daughter of Ronald and Jeannette Squires; Roanoke; piano.

Amanda Jones, daughter of Jeffrey and Priscilla Jones; Salem; tap dance.

Anita Hoback, daughter of Lewis and Betsy Hoback; Vinton; modern dance.

Jennifer Turner; Martinsville; jazz dance.

Sarah Hill; Lynchburg; dance.

Yongsook Kim; Western Fairfax; guitar/vocal.

Julie Bienvenue; Tahitian dance.
