VOLUNTEER TO ASSIST WITH INCOME-TAX FILING

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service, and Tax Counseling for the Elderly, sponsored by the League of Older Americans, are in their 23rd year of service to taxpayers.

Volunteers, who are trained by the IRS and who must pass an examination, will provide free assistance to low-income, elderly and handicapped individuals. Those using this service are asked to bring with them a copy of their 1989 tax return.

Following is a schedule of locations, times and numbers to call for appointments:

Veterans Affairs Medical Center - Wednesday and Feb. 27, March 13 and 27, April 3 and 10, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and by appointment, 982-2463.

Melrose Towers League of Older Americans office, 3038 Melrose Ave. N.W. - Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call for appointment between 9 a.m. and noon, 344-1065.
