The League of Older Americans is seeking nominations for its Older Worker of the Year awards, in observance of Older Worker Week, March 10-16.
Employers may nominate current employees who are at least 60 years old for the award. Nomination forms, available at the league's office at 706 Campbell Ave. S.W., must be accompanied by a recent photograph and must be postmarked by Feb. 28.
All nominees and their employers will be recognized at the Older Worker Reception to be held during the week of March 10.

Salvation Army names advisory board officers
John M. Shumate Jr. has been selected to chair the advisory board for the Salvation Army in Roanoke. He has served on the board since 1970.
Also appointed as officers were Donald Bartol, vice chairman; Virginia Moore, secretary; and Inez Ripley, treasurer.
The Roanoke Salvation Army operation includes family services, shelters for the homeless and for abused women and their children, a community center and a salvage and thrift store operation.
