HAITIAN LEADER INAUGURATED

The Rev. Jean-Bertrand Aristide was sworn in Thursday as Haiti's first democratically elected president, five years to the day after the fall of the Duvalier family dictatorship.

He promptly challenged the army to retire six conservative officers.

The 37-year-old leftist Catholic priest took the oath of office in front of dignitaries from 22 nations.
