PHILPOTT - Mary Gertrude Philpott, age 92, of Route 4, Philpott, Virginia, died Wednesday, February 6, 1991, at Stanleytown Health Care Center. She was born in Henry County, November 23, 1898, the daughter of the late Crockett Lee Prillaman and the late Sallie Bet Davis Prillaman. Mrs. Philpott was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Philpott in 1962 and her daughter, Mrs. Harold (Maxine) Dorness. She was a member of Town Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Weldon K. (Helen) Palmour of Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs. Robert O. (Patricia) Petty of Philpott, Va.; three sons, Albert Lee Philpott of Philpott, Va.; Harry W. Philpott of Winston-Salem, N. C.; John D. Philpott, Martinsville, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Ocie Hoffman, Norfolk, Va.; Mrs. Charles T. (Christine) Philpott, Philpott, Va.; two brothers, Cecil Prillaman, Pulaski, Va.; Robert S. Prillaman, Collinsville, Va.; twenty grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. Collins Funeral Chapel in Bassett, Va., with the Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Interment will be in the Philpott Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
