PH SWEEPS DISTRICT INDOOR MEET

Patrick Henry swept the Roanoke Valley District indoor track meet Thursday night at Virginia Tech's Rector Field House, winning the boys' and girls' competition.

Cave Spring's John Hawthorne won the 1600- and 3200-meter races. Paul Paige of William Fleming was the only other double winner, placing first in the 55 and 300.

In girls' competition, William Fleming's Monica Cabbler won the long jump and the triple jump and was a member of the first-place 1600-relay team.

Her triple jump of 37 feet, 6 1/2 inches set a district record.

The top six finishers in each event advance to the Northwest Region meet at VMI on Feb. 16.
