MAN CHARGED IN WYTHE WOUNDING

A 36-year-old Wythe County man was in stable condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after being shot in the stomach Wednesday night in the Crockett section of the county.

Charles Edward Harden was shot at close range with a .41-caliber Magnum Ruger Blackhawk, according to Investigator Kent Vaughan with the Sheriff's Office.

Cecil Groseclose, 59, of Crockett has been charged with malicious wounding.

The shooting apparently happened shortly before midnight on Virginia 690 near Groseclose's home.
