W.VA. MAN ADMITS ROLE IN BURGLARIES

A West Virginia man has pleaded guilty to two of the wave of burglaries that took place in Southwest Virginia from the West Virginia to North Carolina state lines during 1988.

Jackie Allen Hurt entered into a plea agreement Wednesday in which he admitted to two burglaries in June 1988 in eastern Wytheville and the Country Club Estates part of town.

He received a 10-year suspended sentence and will be placed on probation for five years.

Two other men - David Hubbard and Thomas Sparks from Beckley, W.Va. - have been charged in connection with the 1988 burglary ring but have not been indicted.
