FORMER COACH ADMITS SEXUAL ASSAULT OF BOY

A former coach for a Prince William softball team pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy who played on his team.

Timothy Wayne Barnes, 28, of Pasadena, Md., pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of forcible sodomy and one count of aggravated sexual battery. The incidents occurred in the summer of 1988.

In exchange for the guilty pleas, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Sandra Sylvester recommended that Barnes be sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Sentencing was set for April 30. - Associated Press
