EX-NEWSPAPER OFFICIAL ADMITS EMBEZZLEMENT

A former circulation manager at The Progess-Index, facing a maximum of 20 years in prison, pleaded guilty to embezzling money from the newspaper and one of its weekly tabloids.

Joseph M. O'Brien, 28, entered his plea in Petersburg Circuit Court after confessing to his part in the scheme, which involved the embezzlement of funds from the newspaper and its weekly, the Tri-City Review.

The scheme included other newspaper employees who have yet to be tried.
