WVRU VALENTINE SPECIAL WILL FILL THE AIRWAVES WITH LOVE

SPECIALS: WVRU's Valentine's Day special airs Thursday - "Swingin' for St. Valentine" will begin at 9 p.m. and will feature Frank Sinatra and Harry Connick, Jr. with plenty of old & new love songs, including "It Had to Be You," "Something Stupid" and many more.

WPSK airs its "Bid It or Buy It" auction today starting at 10 a.m. Listen for details on placing your bids on over $8,000 worth of merchandise. And if you don't want to bid, you can request to buy items at cost. All proceeds benefit the station.

WFNR will sponsor a benefit gospel concert on Feb. 23 for the family of Ryan Wallace, who died Monday after a long illness. The show will feature a number of bands and will be held at Radford High School. Proceeds will help the family with medical bills. Stay tuned for details.

WFNR also will be starting a bluegrass newsletter. Listen for info on how to win a bluegrass-goodie package if your name for the newsletter is chosen.

\ ROCK: WVRU's "Long Live Rock," Monday, 9 p.m., starts a feature on Neil Young. This first part of the series covers the years 1966 through 1972.

WUVT is back on the air after suffering some technical problems. Today's schedule includes: classical music, 6-9 a.m.; Greek broadcasting, 9-11 a.m.; "The Persian Show," 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.; "The International Show" 1-3 p.m.; reggae, 3-6 p.m.; and "Urban Blight," an eclectic mix of thrash, rap and reggae, 6-9 p.m. "The House Party" airs 9 to midnight.

On WUVT Sunday: Jazz,6-9 a.m.; "Hickory Dickory Dock," 9-11 a.m.; "Mash Potatoe Radio," with stories, readings & music, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; blues, 1-3 p.m.; reggae, 3-6 p.m.

WVVV's "Reelin' In the Years," Sunday at 9 a.m., will feature Jimi Hendrix, Robbie Krieger of the Doors, Beatles' engineer Ken Scott, and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. "Album Feature" will air "Now & Zen" by Robert Plant Sunday at 11 p.m. And "Five At Five" Friday features Hendrix.

\ NEWS: WVRU's "Talk of the Town," Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 1:30 p.m., features a discussion on the New River Valley Economic Development Alliance.

WJJJ simulcasts the Business Radio Network this weekend. Saturday, from 6-9 p.m., "Omniverse" airs. Sunday at noon is "Women's Business Exchange." Listen for other business programming throughout the weekend.

WKEX's "Focus on the Family," 9 a.m. and 6:05 p.m., features "A Conversation About Adolescence," Monday; "Keeping Romance in Your Marriage," Tuesday and Wednesday; and "Messages of Love," Thursday and Friday.

\ NASCAR RACING: WJJJ will carry the Busch Clash/ARCA 200 from Daytona Sunday at noon.

\ BLUEGRASS: WFNR's "Bluegrass Talk Back Show" airs Thursday at 8 p.m. over FM.

\ COUNTRY: WPSK's "Star Trax" airs Sunday, 10 p.m. "Bob Kingsley's American Country Countdown" lists the top 40 today, 8 a.m.-noon, and Sunday, 4-8 p.m. "Stories Behind the Songs" airs Sunday, 10 p.m. Also, WPSK hosts the "Country Dance Party" at the Blacksburg Marriott each Sunday. Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m. and the party starts at 9.

\ BASKETBALL: WKEX, WRAD, WJJJ and WVVV broadcast Tulane at Virginia Tech today at 3:10 p.m., and Tech at Louisville Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. WRIQ will also cover Wednesday's action.

WRIQ airs Radford University playing at home against Coastal Carolina tonight at 7:30, Monday at home against Winthrop College, 7:30 p.m., and Thursday in Charleston against Baptist College, 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, WRIQ and WRAD feature Radford at Tazewell, 7:15 p.m. WBLB covers Pulaski at Patrick Henry, 7:15 p.m.

Friday, WRIQ and WRAD will broadcast Radford at Carroll County, 8 p.m. WKEX, WVVV and WJJJ air Christiansburg at Blacksburg, 7:30 p.m.

\ GOSPEL: WPUV airs "Home Town Gospel" today at 7:30 a.m. Weekdays at 1 p.m., "On the Line," a call-in show with Dr. David Gyerston concerning issues of the day, airs.

On WPUV Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., catch various local preachers spreading the gospel. At 2 p.m. The Famous Max Mountain Gospel Singers perform live.

WFNR's "The Gospel Night Train" airs Sunday at 7 p.m. The "Glorious Gospel Highway Show" is broadcast Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

WRAD's "Morning Worship," featuring the First Baptist Church, airs 11-noon Sunday. "In Touch" is featured at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

WKEX broadcasts the "Abundant Life Hour" with the Blacksburg Baptist Church Sunday at 8:30 a.m., the "Glade Church Baptist Hour" at 9 a.m., and the "Morning Worship Service" at the Blacksburg United Methodist Church at 11 a.m.
